We will kick off our course with a discussion of a concept that is a foundation of statistics - variables! There are different types of variables, including both categorical and continuous. Categorical variables can be binomial or nominal, while continuous variables can be ordinal, interval, or ratio. When analyzing data, the types of variables involved is a key factor in selecting the most appropriate analysis.
Finding Variables
For this discussion, begin by locating a published research article from a peer-reviewed journal. Review the article, and then develop a main response in which you address the following:
Summarize the study's main points, including topic, purpose, and findings.
Describe the variables of interest and identify what type they are.
Explain how each variable is measured, and reflect on any potential limitations.
