For this assignment, you must pick a visual text (a poster, short video/movie clip, piece of art, etc.) that explicitly falls under the category of propaganda. Your paper should be five to six pages, typed, and must follow MLA citation. You must use at least one secondary source for this paper, so please include a Works Cited page and in-text citations for your secondary source(s). Using inductive analysis, begin by writing a literal description of what the text contains (colors, visual patterns, symbols/images, general layout of objects, etc.) so that you can then critically analyze the symbolism behind these components. Remember that not all images may be explicit, so investigate the text for both explicit and implicit details, symbolism, logical fallacies, different types of arguments, target audience, etc. Your paper should demonstrate your ability to use the aforementioned techniques on a visual text as well as your ability to form an inductive argument about what the text is communicating, to whom it is communicating, and why such communication is taking place.
