Dr. Jones names racism as a social determinant of equity, which helps to explain why we see health disparities. While Sultz and Young do not mention racism, racism may be influencing the public health issues they discuss. Pick one of the domestic public issues on pages 334-338 and discuss how racism may be impacting that specific issue. Use what you learn from the video and outside research to support your claims. For example, what does the health issue look like when broken up by ethnicity? Outside research should come from a reputable source like a government or NGO website (i.e., “.gov” or “.org”). No newspaper articles or “.com” websites. Write your response in essay form with a minimum of 500 and no more than 800 words. 3. Submit your essay by clicking on Create Journal Entry above and attach your Word or PDF file. Grading: Total Points: 5 Chose a domestic health issue from page 334-338 of the textbook. (1pt) Uses information from the video to explain response. (1pt) Includes at least one reputable outside source. (1pt) Essay is at least 500 words and not more than 800 words.
