1. In Part 1 of the essay, describe the cultural/geographical setting of your work. Make sure to set your work in a specific, concrete place, but also think about ways that this place is layered with other linguistic, cultural, and/or literary traditions. draw on some of the concepts we’ve discussed in class (but don’t feel like you need to include all of them): culture, colonialism, postcolonialism,, language, translation, etymology, neologism, originality/imitation, class and caste, etc. Please also cite at least three outside sources for this section,
2. Then, in Part 2, write a proposal for your original work of world literature. This part will be less historical/contextual and more literary. use some of the literary terms we’ve been employing this term: plot, theme, character, symbolism, point of view,, narration, style, myth, but illustrate how its features capture some of the cultural/geographical dynamics that you unpacked in Part 1 of the essay.
