Assignment: Enslaved Africans in the 1800s endured the daily threats of slave patrols, beatings, rapes, whippings, having their children or loved ones sold, constant monitoring, and persistent insults. To survive these indignities, enslaved Africans in Kindred used a range of tactics, particularly:(1) they attempted to run away(2) they asserted as much power they could in the house positions that they held(3) they accepted the life that they had and made the best of the situation(4) they attempted suicide. In 800 to 1,000words, ONLY use the novel Kindred to critically analyze how enslaved Africans, including Dana, survived the Weylin Plantation in Maryland. You will write about the listed four ways that the different characters in Kindred survived. Each paragraph must start with a topic sentence that states the tactic that you are analyzing. For example: One way that enslaved Africans survived the Weylin Plantation was to attempt to run away. Each paragraph must also include at least two carefully chosen short quotes that you analyze. These quotes should be used to analyze the tactic you are focusing on in each paragraph.
