Writing your Case Paper Your paper should include these headings (Make sure to include these exact heading names in this order): APA Formatted Cover Page Executive Summary Here you will provide a summary of your case paper. Please do not include a summary of the case or the company history. Instead, focus on your ideas, that is, you are summarizing your case paper, not the information already provided by the case. Although this heading must be listed first, write the executive summary last. This section should be approximately ½ page in length. Issue Statement Here you need to clearly state the strategic issue that you address (i.e. the guiding question). Using only information from the case, expand upon this issue such that you not only state the question, but also recognize nuances or implicit aspects of the issue. This section should be approximately ½ page in length. Strategic Analysis Here you will demonstrate that you have researched the issues in this case study, diagnosing potential causes of the strategic issue by use strategy concepts (such as SWOT), theories, or research discussed in the course. You will provide support for the arguments in your analysis by using data and information from the case. Vague statements are not sufficient. For example: Insufficient: “Lots of consumers like to view Pixar movies” Sufficient: “Pixar has a XX% market share in their industry” (in-text citation) This section should be approximately 2 pages in length. Strategic Alternatives Here you will suggest two strategic solutions for the strategic issue you identified. Please identify potential pros and cons for each solution. This section should be approximately 1-2 pages in length. Recommendation Finally, you will choose one strategic solution from the two you suggested. You will explain and provide evidence that your recommendation is the best choice. The chosen solution should be effective (meaning it addresses the root cause of the strategic issue) and has the highest net benefit (more pros than cons). Please provide a course of actions to implement your recommended strategic solution. This section should be approximately 1-2 pages in length. References Here you will provide a properly formatted APA Reference Page. Please watch the APA videos provided and review the APA material noted. Your research for the case will include 2 additional resources, 1 of these must be a Peer Reviewed Journal Article that will be included in your paper as an in-text citation and on the Reference page as a properly APA formatted reference. Writing and Formatting Instructions After you have composed the paper, read through it to check for any gaps or inconsistencies in content or structure. When you make the necessary revisions, proofread and edit your paper before submission. Your paper will be 5-7 pages not including the APA Cover Page or Reference page. This limit also does not include any graphs or figures you include in your paper. You will use APA format including Section APA Headings, In-text Citations, and References in addition to other APA format and style indicated in the new 7th edition.
