You get to choose your own readings in this class! It's unlikely that I enjoy the same movies or t.v. shows as you. So why should I pick the readings you have to analyze? TAKE THE TIME to go through the textbook and pick out your readings. Be sure to have the correct textbook with the page numbers we all share. Attached is the document you can use to craft your list. Example Jonathon Swift A Modest Proposal – pages 11 – 20 Horace Grant Life in Detroit – pages 3-7 Johnny Appleseed Where’s My Beans? – pages 905-910 Ernest Heminway Fire Pit – pages 258-272

DIRECTIONS 1. Download the Rubric document. 2. Read through the requirements. You most likely won't understand any of it, but that's okay. That's our work until you write your first written quiz :)) 3. Then, write a paragraph using all of the 7 words at the end of the document. The paragraph can be about anything. I only need to see you using the vocabulary words properly in a paragraph. 4. Have a favorite dictionary website! I use http://www.merriam-webster.com/ or http://dictionary.reference.com/ Each has a thesaurus AND an AUDIO feature that will play the word so you can HEAR it! Be able to use these words! Let me see them in all assignments if it fits! 5. Download the MLA docs at the top of the "Lessons" Module and be sure the document you submit has a perfect MLA heading and title. The MLA Template should be used as a model. The MLA Setup Directions Doc will help you set your defaults. The MLA Success Doc takes the place of an expensive English handbook and will give you concrete ways to elevate your writing to the collegiate level. WQ Rubric.docx image.png
