Instruction
1.Discuss your assumptions about the case and any inconsistencies you found.
Evaluate the physical assessment and lab data and relate them back to the pathophysiology (etiology, pathology, & clinical manifestations) of breast cancer and pulmonary emboli. Basically, discuss why you see what you see on the basis of the pathophysiology of the disease processes.
Is the medical plan of care appropriate for the patient’s diagnosis? If not, why not?
2.Discuss your thoughts on the role of the family in medical decision-making as it relates to this case. Do you believe the husband should be more involved by helping his wife explore her hesitation to address end-of-life care and planning? Support your thoughts with evidence-based literature.
How can the patient be supported in obtaining a “good death?”
