The explosion of smartphones that employ advanced encryption and biometric authentication methods presents a difficult and interesting challenge to the legal community. The U.S. Constitution protects its citizens' privacy rights. Not only are there legal considerations to address, but there are also ethical questions to answer. Write an essay, a minimum of 500 words in length, that includes the following:
1. Research and provide a summary of a recent U.S. case that involved the handling of mobile devices to collect evidence.
2. Describe whether law enforcement required the unlocking of the device by the suspect or the manufacturer. If so, were either compelled by the courts to provide the unlock codes?
3. Address the legal issues surrounding this case and describe if there were any privacy or ethical considerations.
4. Explain your thoughts on this case and if you agree or disagree with the outcome and processes.
5. Determine if the court's requests were constitutional. Explain what you would have done differently in the case.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
