Instructions: This week’s learning material is a discussion post assignment to be completed with responses to classmates by 11:59 pm Friday July 16. Weighting: 15% of final mark. Follow instructions and the marking rubric carefully. Late assignments will receive a mark of zero. This discussion assignment is based on the learning material from week 7 and Chapter 9 of the text. Go to the Discussion Board Link in the course Blackboard shell. Click on the Discussion Post Assignment #2, and create a thread in the forum. Follow these steps- 500 words minimum: Refer to Chapter 9, and your weekly learning activity tasks you completed for week 7. Review the Sources of Organizational Conflict pp. 175-180 and Conflict Management Styles pp.181-182. Also review Guidelines and techniques for resolving Conflicts pp. 183-190 Share an example conflict you have experienced in the workplace. It can be any job you have had. If you don’t have a work example, it can be at school or other extra-curricular situation. Briefly describe what took place. 5 marks Identify the source of the conflict by referring to the example sources identified in the text pp. 175-180. Choose one of the sources that are listed in the text that matches your situation and explain why. 5 marks Refer to your results of your completed Self Assessment Quizzes 9-1 on page 176, and 9-2 on page 187. Refer to the Conflict Management Styles pp. 181-182. Reflecting on your conflict example, share what you think your dominant conflict management style is, and explain why- with an example. Also share what style(s) of conflict management would like to develop more, that is not typically on your “comfort zone” when dealing with conflict. 10 marks Provide word count of your post showing you meet the 500 word requirement: 5 marks Use of paragraphs and headings- not a mass of text!- 5 marks Go to one of your classmates posts that does not have a response and provide a comment on their post and share some of your insight (100 word minimum- Provide word count showing 100 word requirement). 10 marks Marking Rubric 40 marks: NOTE: Marks are deducted for incorrect punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, or grammar.
