Advice to Management Simulation #2 Assignment
Assignment Details: This is a single player simulation assignment. You are to define and execute a business-to-business market strategy at a manufacturer of motors used in medical devices. Each student is to achieve a sustainable revenue stream to maximize cumulative profit for the firm over the thirteen (13) quarter time horizon. Please reference all of the user materials included with the simulation package for particular instructions.
During your tenure managing Minnesota Micromotors, you will undoubtedly grow in your knowledge of the industry, refined your strategy, and gained some insights with regard to implementation. In a memo, please pass on to your successors what you consider the most important advice. The memo can be done in groups, after completion of the simulation individually. The paper should not exceed three pages, line spacing at 1.5; times new roman font not larger than 12 pt.
The paper is due Tuesday 11/11/14.
Suggestions as to what should be included were discussed in class and are summarized below.
1. What were your original objectives? What key assumptions or relationships amongst variables that you did you based your decision upon that supported this/these plans. Were there options that were considered and ultimately not selected that in hind-site might have been optimal?
2. What were the results of your decisions? Did you make any mid-course corrections based on altered assumptions or better understanding of particular that turned out to be extremely beneficial or in error? What led you to implement those changes?
3. What you consider to be key success factors for Minnesota Micromotors going forward?
4. Do you have any particular insights with respect to the 4Ps, for example:
a. Product: What would you like to see as your next new product introduction (in the context of OTC cold remedies)
b. Price: Pricing policy and rationale
c. Promotion: Insights on message content and promotional vehicles
d. Place: What you found were the best methods to motivate your channel partners to improve measures such as shelf space.
5. Highlights and lowlights with respect to your management of Minnesota Micromotors, Inc.
