Report on an Individual Intervention Intended for Weight Loss in Adults and/or Children Instructions Purpose: The goal of this assignment is to provide an overview of weight loss interventions for individuals. Your report will be submitted through the Assignment Portal AND on the Discussion Board. On the Discussion Board, you will read and comment on the initial posts of at least 2 other students. Selecting a topic: You must select an intervention intended for weight loss in individual adults and/or children. This is about treating individual patients/clients – NOT a community/public health intervention. Format: APA format. You may use the Purdue OWL for guidance: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/05/ Length: 500 words (not counting references.) Use within-text citations as appropriate. List your references at the end, using APA format. References: You will use at least one peer-reviewed article. Reviews and meta-analyses are good, in addition to reports of a single study. Of course, if you are reporting on a commercial program or diet, you will need to obtain information from the website. However, you still must include a peer-reviewed article in your evaluation of the intervention. Content: Include brief description of topic and history (if applicable). If you are discussing weight loss strategies/plans provide a description of the plan's components, recommendations, requirements, costs, etc. For weight loss strategies, give an evaluation of the strategy – effectiveness, advantages, disadvantages, concerns. Emphasize implications for practitioners. The entire report should be written in your own words – words that you can understand. No copying and pasting. Write the summary as if you are telling a story for us and your life depends on making us understand the information. To make us understand, you must understand. That’s why you must read your references several times (preferably on different days) and determine the important points. If you use words you had to look up, please define those words for your peers. Remember to use within-text citations and list references at end of paper, using APA format.
