Claim: Water pollution is rising to a crisis.
Qualifiers:
-Research has shown that there was an increase of pollutants in tap water revealed to be PFAS(Poly and Perfluoroalkyl substances). PFAS is a chemical that has a resistance to heat, moisture, and stains, making it hard for the chemical to dissolve.
Reason/Evidence:
-Pollution can come from different factors, be it legal and illegal discharges. For example “Spills and leaks from oil pipelines or hydraulic fracturing operations can degrade water supplies…” and of course plastic waste.
-Agriculture and industrial companies can sometimes “excess nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, these nutrients often fuel algae blooms that then create dead zones, or low oxygen areas where fish and other aquatic life can no longer thrive”.
Warrants: Water pollution can develop health problems causing rashes, damage wildlife, and also affect infants which can lead to “blue baby syndrome”.
Backing:
-Researchers have been working out different solutions to help prevent and clean up the pollution from affecting any further.
-Number of scientists have also been looking at ways to help reduce the plastic pollution going through the factories and also drains
-The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has been announced to help reduce the problem in order to help the nation's own prosperity, to protect the citizens of the state.
