Discussion question: Find a test to assess, intelligence or education, find a similar alternative test for administration with an individual who may be blind, deaf, or nonverbal. How are they similar? How are they different?
Classmate response: A commonly used intelligence test used today is The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children. This test is given to children ages 6-16 years of age. There are two different versions of the test today. One version is WISC-V and the second version is WISC-IV. The WISC-V has numerous subtests but not a full IQ test. WAIS-IV version is mainly used for ages 16 075 years of age. WAIS-IV version is known as the “adult version.” (The Clay center, 2021)
Callier-Azusa Scale is a test used for blind/def individuals. “The method of assessment is through direct observation in classroom settings with input from parents and others who know the student well.” The Callier-Azusa Scale “G” assesses the overall development of the student. This test is administered by a teacher or parent/guardian of the student. The Callier-Azusa Scale “H” scale asses the communication abilities of the student (Callier Center, 2021
The difference between the two is that the Wechsler Intelligence Scale is not administered by teachers or the child’s parent/guardian but the Callier-Azusa Scale is. The similarities is that both tests are developed to assess a child’s/student’s intelligence level.
