Virtual Dating Lab-

Purpose-

The purpose of the Virtual Dating Lab exercise is to determine the age of rocks and minerals by using radioactive decay of parent isotopes into daughter isotopes. Age will be determined by the number of daughter isotopes in a mineral. Time will be determined by how long it takes to produce that number of daughters. Answer each slide's questions and record them in a journal to aid you in writing your report. You must correctly complete each slide's questions before you will be allowed to continue.

Procedures-

Go to web site, www.sciencecourseware.com and choose Virtual Dating and then Virtual Dating Isochron. Follow the directions of the interactive exercise. Present your exercise in the proper lab report format. At the end of the exercise, cut and paste the certificate of completion with the proper information at the very end of your conclusion section. This is not a difficult lab, but it requires carefully reading and following directions. You must get started early, and complete this lab. As I have stated, this is an easy lab to do if you pay attention to instructions. You must be able to cut and paste. If you can't or if your computer does not have the capacity to do so, it is your responsibility to do what is necessary to complete the assignment. Save the web address, you will be using it again. Do not cut and paste graphs or other material into the body of your report.---Lab must have intro, body, and conclusion.
