Moment distribution of frame required and elastic / plastic analysis. 1- Use the moment distribution method of elastic analysis to find the value of the force P that will cause first yield to take place. Ignore buckling due to axial load, and also ignore lateral torsional buckling due to bending. Draw the bending moment diagram based on this value of P, showing the key moment values. 2- Use plastic analysis methods to calculate the value of P that is required for collapse to take place. Draw the bending moment diagram at the onset of collapse, showing the key moment values.
