I have a video and some questions on it. here is the video: http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/watch/player.html?pkg=205_china&seg=1&mod=0 and these are the questions: 1. What is SARS? 2. Where did this disease originate? 3. How did it get to Hong Kong? 4. What techniques is David Ho using to try and prevent the disease from replicating in humans? 5. List several economic and social impacts SARS has had on Hong Kong. Part II Directions: Using your knowledge about medical geography and the information you attained from the video, answer the following questions to the best of your ability. There is no right or wrong answer, however, for you to receive credit I must see effort! 6. The rapid spread of SARS is largely attributed to the increasing ability of humans to travel quickly around the world. Conversely, the rapid decline of the disease is attributed to scientists like Dr. Ho. Is technology the problem or the solution to transnational problems like SARS? 7. SARS demonstrates how local problems, such as leaky sewage pipes, can blow up into global epidemics literally overnight. What, if any, type of international program can be put in place to prevent this from happening again as an even larger disaster? 8. How would the SARS epidemic have been different if it had erupted in a part of the world less connected to the rest of the world through the processes of globalization? Would it have had a higher or lower death toll? Are some areas of high population density more prone to outbreaks of disease than others?
