Section I. Diversity Consultant Exercise: Comprehensive Essay (100 Points)
For this essay, imagine that you have been hired as a diversity Consultant by an organization . . . The CEO of a local customer service call-center has asked you to design, organizing, and facilitate a Diversity and Communication Workshop for 50 employees and managers. The reason for the training is that the call-center has recently grown in size and diversity, and they are noticing cliques and conflicts among employees that they believe are related to issues of diversity and communication.
Details About the Scenario:
* The CEO of the call center has never had any formal training on issues of diversity and communicationhe or she is needs help addressing issues of gender, race, social class, age, ability, and sexuality. Knowing that you are well-versed social identity and culture theories, and COMMUNICATION, the CEO has hired YOU to develop and facilitate a diversity workshop that will REUNITE the organization.
*As a starting point, the CEO sends you the movie clip below because s/he heard it was a popular and thought-provoking way to begin the workshop. The organization want to addresses issues of diversity.
*S/He wants to know if you think the video is a good way to begin the workshop. Your essay is your reply . . .
Directions for Analysis and Essay:
* Watch the clip, and write an essay to the CEO of the call center that address the following issues and questions:
* First: address whether or not you believe this is an appropriate starting-point for the workshop and why/why not?
* Next, offer an alternative starting point for the conference. How should they begin and organize the workshop
* Use ANY theories and concepts of diversity and communication that we have discussed this semester to support your design for the diversity training.
* After you develop your thoughts, write a formal essay to the CEO explaining your opinion about whether or not to use the video.
* (((Your essay should have strong and interesting thesis, a minimum of three mains points that support your thesis, and a strong conclusion.)))
