Good morning, My teacher response. I was wondering if you can look into this. She has questions for us. Maybe we can reference our source in case she needs to look it up. In Part I, take another look at the number of chromosomes. I am sure that individual crabs have thousands of cells so they certainly have more than 254 chromosomes in their entire bodies. I have also never heard of a species with only 1 pair of chromosomes in each cell (fruit flies have only 8 chromosome pairs in each cell, the lowest I know about). Which type of cells are produced through the process of meiosis in coconut crabs? And which cells are produced through the process of mitosis?
