****Basically watch a few videos, reference them in a 3 page essay, come up with a thesis for introduction, body paragraphs of discussion, and conclusion (MLA format, simply write an essay single spaced and in old font)*****

1C) The World in 2050 by Distinctive Voices by Prof. L. Smith (Univ. California)
(Published on Sep 11, 2012 on You Tube. This talk draws on the latest global modeling
research to construct a sweeping thought experiment on what our world will be like in 2050. The
World in 2050 combines the lessons of geography and history with state-of-the-art model
projections and analytical data-everything from climate dynamics and resource stocks to age
distributions and economic growth projections.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Use the material above or/and additional material (literature and on-line videos
and lectures to write a 2-3 page (single-spaced) report on the topic.
The structure of the report should contain: Title, Introduction, Main discussion,
Summary and Conclusions, References.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------1) Title. Choose a title.
2) Introduction. It provides a short introduction and background giving a clear idea on
what the main discussion will cover.
3) Main Discussion. In this section you will discuss the topic (here it is the current state
of our environment and future projections based on the material given above as well as
additional literature that you may add on your own).
The discussion should contain specific examples that would support your statements.
Also, make sure that you have references in the text to refer to your sources.
2
For example (a hypothetical case):
As it was discussed by John Smith in ref. [5] the average sea level has risen by 2
meters in the last 15 years which has dramatic impact on coastal areas.
Reference [5] should be listed at the very end in the list of references (see below).
4) Summary and Conclusions).
In this section you will briefly list your main conclusions that you draw after studying the
material above.
An example of a hypothetical scenario of the text in the Conclusion section is listed
below.
The scientific evidence presented in references [3], [5] and [7] regarding the current state
of our environment indicates a concerning trend as documented below:
(A) The rapid melting of ice cover in Greenland and Alaska as well as ice-covered regions
of Arctic Ocean (The reduction of the total ice-sheet area by 2000 square-miles over
the last 10 years has been observed (reference [7]));
(B) The dramatic increase in hurricane intensity in North Atlantic region in the last
decade (The statistic data (reference [10]) indicates that the total number of
hurricanes has doubled in the last decade (2005-2015) compared to the decade
before it (1995-2005)).
(C) The loss of large areas of Amazon Rainforest in the last 25 yearsetc
In addition, the future projections (reference [15]) show that by the end of the year 2050,
about 25% of animal species will be in danger of extinction. The scientific studies
(references [1-15]) suggest that human-related activities related to carbon-emissions
(CO2) are responsible for the rapid increase in the annual average air temperature. In
conclusion, drastic changes in environmental policies in the near future are necessary to
reduce the negative impact of carbon dioxide emissions on our environment.
5) References. Provide a list of references. For example (a hypothetical case):
