This is a comparative writing assignment and is similar to the 1st one, however it is more complex. You are to take one song of any genre that you currently feel a close connection to -- a song that is meaningful to you -- and compare it to 2 different pieces that we discussed over the course of the class. This one is longer and more involved than the last one . The writing should be no less than 5 pages (1250 or so words) and must include a bibliography showing the materials that you used for your research - be sure to visit the library's on line collection and of course you can use the textbook. Try to be as intuitive as possible - write about what you hear but also include some background information and try to find sources that support your opinions.
