  • Hi professoranncarri, 1. Normally supply and demand cross and are represented differently than what's illustrated in the response. Are you certain it's correct? 2. Is the equation correct? The reason I ask is because we normally don't see revenue at zero. Also, the curves don't appear as we normally see them in the text (i.e...semi-parabolic and crossing). Is that due to the limitation of the software?

  • yes they are normally close, but as you can see the equations are equations of straight line. For the two to cross, the graph has to be very large. for Q2 that is not zero. the problem is that the scale given could not allow to be very visible, it is not zero

  • It is true that the two graphs appear not to cross. But bearing in mind that we are given equations of straight line, the line are not parallel but appear as though they will cross at some point. The scale provided by software not allow them to cross. The revenue curve is not zero. Since the equations needs scaling since the coefficients are not of the same order and therefore the scale does not allow everything to appear on the graph clearly.
