Instruction
You are a leading engineer at an automotive company (Bangup Motors). Previously you worked at another auto company (Smog Co.) and in their employ you helped design a mechanism that adjusted the exhaust output depending on certain variables in the computer system that you were not privy to. You did not realize it at the time, but you later came to understand that your work was being used to allow these vehicles to pass emissions tests despite not meeting federal standards. Nevertheless you do not have evidence to convince an impartial party that your prior company was breaking the law. A Vice President at your current company expresses wonderment at the low emissions of SmogCo vehicles, and asks you how they manage to make cars so efficient. Prior to leaving SmogCo, you signed a legal agreement not to disclose any company secrets or make use of them in your subsequent jobs. What is the right thing to do?
