Bottled Water and Tap Water
Bottled water was supplied all around the globe for keeping consumers free from contaminants and bacteria; consumption of which may at times prove to be as fatal for drinking purposes. Water present in the form of bottle is considered as a means of cleanliness and convenience that provides assurance for healthiness and purity. With the passage of time, tap water is getting obsolete from world as far as its consumption for drinking purposes is concerned. Tap water coming out of filter is considered as one of the safe source for consumption, but its importance is gradually decreasing since the time bottled water has been introduced in the market. Filters of water are often attached with faucets and pitchers , but no guarantee is provided to consumers that such filtered water is free from any contaminated material such as pathogens and bacteria.
In 1820, bottled water was first supplied by a company Saratoga Springs, and since that time its market is blooming all around the world. As people are becoming more health conscious, they are shifting their attention towards purchase and consumption of bottled water. In middle of 1990s, bottled water of 10 billion liter was consumed on annual basis by Americans for drinking purposes. However, in few countries around the globe, tap water is highly preferred because it contains fluoride in it, which is considered as beneficial for healthier living of children. For such reasons bottled water is considered as ineffective for consumption because companies often make use of artificial materials to fulfill the deficiency of fluoride.
Though bottled water has received greater preference over tap water, yet there are few of the suggestions that can make bottled water as ideal for drinking purposes. It has been recommended that companies should take different steps and guidelines for manufacturing bottled water to final end consumers. It has been noted that majority of people living in America are using bottled water because of cleanliness and crispiness embedded in it. For majority of Americans, bottled water provides an alternative solution for carbonated drinks and sugary. It has been investigated in different researches that tap water may contains an increased number of chlorine, consumption of which can prove to be as fatal for human beings. Companies involved in manufacturing bottled water pass through different stages for removing taste of chlorine from water (Goodson, 2012).
As per results of national poll, consumption of tap water is mistrusted by one third of Americans. Such mistrust has been increased among majority of Hispanics, which has enforced them to minimize its consumption to minimum possible level. Due to its ineffectiveness, Hispanics does not prefer consuming tap water for themselves, or for their children. When tap water quality is not trusted by people, then chances for consumption and purchase of bottled beverages such as SSB and bottled water increases to greater extent. For example, a perception has been developed that tap water is less safe as compared to bottled water. One of the major advantage of bottled water is that it can conveniently be carried along by an individual from one particular place to another (Onufrak, 2014).
Since last few years, the trend of using bottled water has increased to considerable level. In last decade, consumers have shown greater concern towards consumption of bottled water over tap water. In 2007, 29.0 gallons of bottled water were consumed by one individual in United States of America. This quantity became two times greater as compared to the quantitative results that were obtained in 1997, during which 13.5 gallons of bottled water were consumed by one person. Bottled water has been classified as second largest category of commercial beverage in United States of America. Bottled water is preferred over tap water mainly because of few reasons which include health concerns, mistrust, convenience and taste. Societies using contaminated natural tap water often give an increased preference to use of bottled water because this often leaves substantial impact on oral health of children. On contrary to tap water of community, fluoride is present in majority of bottled waters that helps in reducing tooth decay among children and adolescents (Huerta, 2012).
During 2004, among five children, only one of them had not received any effective treatment for dental problems. Such dental problem were initiated among children as a result of consuming tap water present in their local areas. The rate of dental problem was significantly greater for poor and minority children group. More researches are required for developing an understanding about different elements which are held responsible for disparities of oral health in populations involving greater risk. Bottled water is supplied to end consumers as natural and pure, but in actual municipal water involves greater regulation as compared to bottled water. Similar to tap water, certain level of contamination is present in bottled water that affects standard of waters quality to greater extent. However, apart from certain advantages, there are few drawbacks of bottle water consumption which may raise serious concerns of environment. First of all, bottled water, after getting consumed, is thrown away by people in their surrounding areas. It becomes a leading source for many fatal diseases (Edberg, 2015).
Estimation has been developed that 70% of bottles manufactured with plastic materials are not recycled. This waste, if not properly disposed gets mixed up with sea water, which later on gets consumed by people for drinking purposes. Additionally, costs of energy associated with transportation and production of bottled water are worth mentioning. It is quite expensive for people to consume bottled water as it passes on through different stages for final manufacturing. On the other hand, no costs are incurred by people for obtaining water from taps as it is a natural resource that does not need any processing. Less knowledge has been developed that what kind of water is being preferred by adolescents and children for purpose of drinking. Moreover, a little research has been conducted about perception of parents for use of tap water within a particular community. A study has been conducted in United States about practices of infant for use of water. Few of the parents have laid emphasis on development of formula for tap water, while rest of them has developed their focus on making formula for bottled water. People who were making use of tap water have adopted formula of boiling. According to this formula, people were suggested to boil tap water, prior of consuming it for drinking purposes (Dinelli, 2012).
In U.S, A study has been conducted on children, who were mainly involved in use of bottled water. A belief was developed by parents of such children that the major cause of their sickness is consumption of tap water. A well regulated society is not developed in Latino countries for maintaining system of water that provides an assurance for safety and purity to its consumers. Development of such belief has impacted preferences of water in Latinos who are spending their lives in United States of America. There exist certain level of variation in preferences of drinking water that increasingly depends on cultural background and community. More information is required to develop an understanding for beliefs and preferences that have been developed by families of different ethnic and socioeconomic groups of population. This data can provide assistance to companies for bringing an improvement in their overall strategies of design and to increase knowledge of parents to greater extent.
Bottled water is considered as healthier source for drinking purposes and more specifically for carrying out different domestic activities. It has been perceived that purity and taste of bottled water is far much better as compared to tap water. Such perceptions for water quality seems to impact consumption patterns and preferences of drinking water. Apart from element of purity, taste of water often comes from direct experience of an individual and it is considered as one of the influential factor that motivates consumers to use specific kind of beverages and other food materials. Since last few years, blind tasting comparison has been conducted by organizations for bottled and tap waters. The results of study have shown that tap water is rated on a higher scale, which poses a serious challenge for the concept that bottled water s preferred over tap water.
As per analysis of National Sanitation Foundation, FDA is held responsible for regulation of bottled water. This agency has developed requirements for quality of water, similar to ones that have been provided by EPA for supply of water to general public. Public water supplies and products of bottled water are not needed by these agencies to manufacture bottled water that is 100% from contaminations. But it is necessary that end product must meet all water drinking standards at provincial, state and federal level. Consuming water in large quantity is essential for health of people because functions of body are maintained through it that helps individuals to stay energized and hydrated (Rani, 2012).
A belief has been developed by majority of people that water contained in bottle goes through a process of filtration, which brings considerable improvement in its overall color, odor and taste. As a result of filtration process, possible contaminants are being eliminated such as byproducts of chlorine, parasites, bacteria and lead. It is considered as one of the effective techniques that make the water free from all kinds of impurities, which might adversely, affects health of human beings to greater extent. A large number of companies are shifting their attention to extend their product line base by adding bottled water products to their beverages. In short, it can be concluded that bottled water is far much better as compared to tap water.

tap, and bottled
Drinking water-tap, and bottled is the most important for hydration and assumes a fundamental part in individuals' lives. Buyers choose bottled water for a few reasons, including taste, quality. The majority of us do not consider the water we drink. We turn on a tap, fill a glass, and drink. Bottled water is a different option for less-sound sugary bundled refreshments when customers need to take out or moderate calories, caffeine, sugar, manufactured flavors, liquor, and different fixings from their weight control plans. Tap water and bottled water are by and large similar regarding safety. So the decision of tap or bottled is for the most part that a matter of individual need and choice. While bottled water has a "healthy," image, it is less directed than tap water and essentially more costly. Tap water is put away in stores and helped into homes and workplaces through pipes; it is overseen by local administrations. Bottled water is bundled in a plastic bottle and to sell in stores. According to Edberg (2015) both these water types have serious effects to human environment; have dissimilar safety features and various prices, while bottled water is bit expensive, greatly safe and environment friendly with compare to tap water. But, unfortunately there are many regions in the world that have been experiencing water crisis and shortage of pure water to meet drinking needs. The FDA regulates bottled water but only bottled water that is in what we call interstate commerce that crosses state lines (Goodson).
Bottled Water is safer, pure, environment friendly, bit expensive and more useful than tap water in the world.Bottled water needs to meet lower strict regulations as compared with tap water. This implies that it can contain bacterial contaminants, including cancer-causing agents that exceed industry standards.
Dinelli (2012) researched about water and explained that bottle water usually has an impressive safety record for the humans in the world, because it is comprehensively distilled and purified to make it light and free from Carbon elements, Calcium bicarbonate and magnesium bicarbonate compounds. These are chemical compounds that make the water heavier and unfit for drinking, washing clothes and cooking food. Actually, these elements do not let the food to be cooked faster and wash the clothes well. If the people drink bottled water, then they will never have any sideeffect, injury or health disorder as the tap water usually delivers to consumers. Bottled water has a suitable ph and alkaline strength that help the consumers to drink more water and digest a food easily. In many cases, the bottled or filtered water is used for quick weight loss and burning the extra fats of the body.
According to a research done by Onufrak it is obvious that one can also drink bottled water in greater quantity and there will be no stomac pain after drinking this water. In the world, bottled water is preferred and liked more, because this is health friendly and useful for the consumers. On the other side, tap water in most of the regions in this world contains Calcium Carbonate and Bi carbonate, Magnesium Carbonate and Bicarbonate compounds that contaminate the purity of water. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has discovered many things and harms associate with tap water which the people in majority across the world use in routine life. However, in many developed societies the tap water is supplied to homes after they clean processes that make this household water quite safe and useful for the human use. "Ratings for taste, clarity, purity and safety were significantly higher for bottled water than tap water " (Huerta-Saenz).
Huerta-Saenz determines that environment is the most essential for every living thing in the world, especially for the humans and animals. Today, the water pollution has disturbed the natural resources of water under as well as over the surface. Many regions have been suffering from water shortage and there are also crucial and serious water crisis. But, in many countries across the world the water is distilled and purified by RO plants and other very effective sources to make it absolutely fit and safe for the human beings. If you talk about two general types of water; bottled and tap water, then you will come to know that bottled or distilled water is the one which is purified from all polluted elements and particles containing heavy chemical compounds. On the other hand, the tap water is not pure as the bottled water."The HPC bacteria found in natural bottled waters is considered to be part of the natural flora of the water, and does not pose a health risk in the absence of fecal indicators such as E" (Onufrak 03-09).
Goodson elaborated that when the distilled or purified water is used for irrigation, washing clothes, watering the plans and crops, then amazing increase in total output is observed. Actually, the pure water is environment friendly for the humans, animals, birds and plants. But, on the other side the study of environment safety by tap water is quite different from filterd water. Actually, the tap water mostly has carbon, calcium, magnesium, sulfate and other injurious chemical compounds that affect negatively to the health and life of all live things or kind on this universe. When humans in the world drink or use tap water in cooking foods, then they suffer from some serious stomach issues and many of the diseases. Similarly, the animals and birds experience chronic diseases and infections after drinking tap water. "Both mistrust of tap water safety and favoring bottled water differed by region, age, race/ethnicity, income and education" (Onufrak, et al., 179-185).
Tap water is a general type of water which the people use in this world for lots of purposes. According to Rani distilled water in the universe has limited uses, because this has some price that is greater than of tap water. When you use tap water, then chances of risks and dangers will be greater, but if you use bottled water in routine life, then definitely it will be safe and secure for you. Distillation or purification of water is carried out by some of mandatory and few additional or optional procedures that make the water light, healthy and risk free. Actually, most of plants use tap water to make it filtered and healthy for human uses. On the other side, tap water is not as pure and health friendly as bottled water is. "Aside from these differences, tap water displayed a much more restricted range of variation for major ions compared to bottled mineral water because of quality guidelines imposed by Italian Law for selected major ions " (Dinelli, et al., 368-389).
So, Onufrak (2014) explains that the price of tap water is almost zero or extremely low. However, there are many regions and countries in the world that do not have enough water resources and the price of tap water in these regions will be higher. But, the distilled water has a cost of purification that is payable by the customers or consumers. It also has been estimated that almost 78% diseases and health issues happen due to drinking of impure and contaminated water by the people and animals. In the world, tap water supplied in homes and factories does not have any price to be paid by the users and consumers. But, every bottle of pure or mineral water will have some price which the consumers have to pay. In short the water packed in bottles is expensive than which the people use through tap at home or anywhere else in the world.
In conclusion by the study it has been confirmed that, Bottled Water is safer, pure, environment friendly, bit expensive and more useful than tap water in the world." Actually, there is no side effect or risk associated with pure or mineral water that does not have any chemical or impure element that may harm the users of bottled water. While, the tap water consists of many polluted elements and chemicals due to contamination under the surface and this may cause of many injuries, diseases and other health complications. Tap water must always be examined day by day, and contains follow measures of chlorine to eliminate microscopic organisms. On the other side, due to safe qualities of bottled water, it will be environment as well as health friendly for the humans and also for the animals. But, the tap water will never have this quality and this may influence the growth of crops, health of humans, lives of animals and birds. Finally, it has been concluded that distilled or bottled water has a greater price which the people have to pay who use this in the world. But, the tap water is mostly supplied to homes and industries through pipe lines that will never have any cost. "As the uses of bottled water in the world are greater than of tap water used by people across the world, so the price of bottled water will also be higher than tap or traditional water" (Rani, et al., 01-04).
