(1) Complete one of the online implicit bias tests that can be accessed at the link at the bottom of this assignment. After completing one of the experimental tests, type a 250 to 350-word (1 1 12 pages) summary in which you briefly describe the test you took, what your results were, and what, if anything, you think your results might tell you about yourself. Also address why you either liked or disliked this exercise and why you agree or disagree with the results. When completed, cut and paste your paper into the submission box that is found on the assignment page.
To access the tests, click on the link below. Once the Project Implicit page opens, you should see a box on the left side of the page with the title, PROJECT IMPLICIT SOCIAL ATTITUDES. You do not need to login or register (unless you would like your results included in the ongoing research). In the lower portion of the box is a pull-down menu from which you should choose your preferred language (English is the default) and then click on the GO! button. You should then read the Preliminary Information followed by the Important Disclaimer. Once you have read all of the preliminary materials, click on the words I wish to proceed which will open page with a menu of potential tests. Choose the one most interesting to you and proceed with the exercise.

(2) The Race Card Project was started by NPR journalist Michele Norris. Her intent was to foster a dialogue on race by asking people to think about the meaning and/or experience of "race" and then express those thoughts in one, six-word sentence. No longer, no shorter.
That project provides the basis for this assignment. There are two parts to this assignment. DO NOT hit submit until you have completed BOTH parts.
(a) You are to think about what race (or your experience with race) means to you. Then create and type your six-word sentence into the submission box on this assignments page. Do not add or delete anything from your six-word sentence. After writing your six-word phrase, explain the basis for your phrase in a one to two paragraph explanation.
(b) Next, click on the link to the Race Card Project website (found below), and scan through the entries found there. Choose TWO entries that you found particularly interesting or thought-provoking. Re-write those entries and explain WHY you found them interesting or thought-provoking. You may type your phrase and paragraphs into the submission box on this assigment page or you can upload it as a Word (.doc or .docx) or Adobe (.pdf) document.
Finally, if you would like to add your six-word sentence to Ms. Norris' Race Card Project page, you are welcomed to do so. You are NOT required to do so.
