Instruction
LITERATURE 201
Project on Perseus
Basic Overview
The project is to create a PowerPoint presentation (or other multimedia presentation) on a legendary figure, place, item, or event from world literature (1600 CE or earlier). It should contain roughly 800-1200 words of text and some form or forms of other media (art, music, etc.). This length requirement will bend a bit depending on the project type, so contact me with any questions you have.
Note that all writing on the slides should be original; the projects will be run through Turnitin upon submission, and all distinctive matching information caught by Turnitin should be formatted as a quotation. DO NOT copy-paste material without immediately marking it as a quotation and citing it. Any multimedia (art, music) inserted or linked in the presentation should also include full bibliographic information.
All projects should have:
1. a title page
2. MLA style citations/works cited page. They should be at least 1000 words long or so.
As long as the project has all of these items, you can let your imaginations roam a bit to come up with something really creative.
Guidelines for Choosing an Topic
Guidelines can be found in the Week 2 Final Project forum prompt. Some basic requirements, however, include that the figure/place/event/item be known before 1600 CE and that it be primarily legendary or mythological, not historical.
Sources
Required sources:
at least 5 secondary/critical sources; 2 must be peer-reviewed
at least 1 primary source (literary text, artwork) written/created before 1600
DO NOT rely on Wikipedia or About.com as major resources for the project. These can be useful as effective ways to get started, but only use them as a springboard to other stronger resources. The bibliography and further reading sections of Wikipedia pages can be particularly helpful in finding additional sources.
Grading
Grading will involve evaluation of the presentation itself as well as evaluation of each individual's contribution to the project. Those who contributed less will earn lower marks, and group members who do not contribute at all will earn a 0 for the project. Please see the attached rubric for full details on grading.
NOTE
Attached is an example of how the assignment should look like and the grading rubric. The topic is about Perseus a Mythological character. It has to be 100% Plagiarism Free. Any questions please let me know. Please use background pictures in the slides that pertain to the story of Perseus.

Students,
As you do your final projects, make sure you do the following to lower your Turnitin score:
1. Use quotation marks for direct quotes. Make sure each paragraph has an in text citation.
2. Limit yourself to just 2 lines of direct quote per paragraph. Use one direct quote per paragraph.
Example paragraph: Topic sentence (main idea sentence) 2 lines of direct quote. Then 5 sentences that explain in your own words what the direct quote meant. Then last sentence concludes and finishes the paragraph.
Use You need to use PIE structure in your body paragraphs. P= Main Point or topic sentence--first sentence that relates back to the thesis. I--In text citation of 2 lines E---Explanation of in text citation in your own words.
Example PIE STructure body paragraph:
Smoking causes cancer. (first sentence--Main Point that relates back to thesis.) Seventy percent of people who smoke will die of lung cancer before the age of 60. (Smith, 22). (I--in text citation) (Now I will write 5 sentences that describe this citation in your own words. Brenda died young from lung cancer. mother. She started smoking at the age of 14. By the time she was 60, she had terminal lung cancer. She died at the age of 62. Smoking is one the rise and more and more teenagers are starting to smoke which is a serious problem. Smoking bans have proven to be somewhat effective. Smoking cigarettes, even the electric ones, are deleterious to one's health because of the nicotine content. In conclusion, smoking is the number one cause of lung cancer.
