Please observe the following instructions:
1. Please submit your exam as one attachment. .
2. The document should be in Microsoft Word.
3. Do not submit any documents ending in "x."
4. Do not submit a PDF. I cannot write comments on a PDF.
5. Do not submit a document in "read-only format." Obviously, I cannot write comments on such a document.
6. Please have a title page, with your name.
7. The exam must be double-spaced.
8. Please spell my name correctly.
You will need to provide at least three credible sources for each essay.
Each essay will be graded on the following rubric:
-60 percent: content
-20 percent: writing
-20 percent: sources
Each essay is worth 100 points. Overall, the mid-term is worth 200 points (20 percent of the final grade).
Each essay should be between 500 and 600 words. Points will be deducted if an essay is shorter than 500 words or longer than 600 words.
The exam is due on Sunday, January 3 at 11:55 pm Eastern time. Late submissions will be penalized.
Please use spell-check. Please edit your essays. Please follow the rules of English grammar and composition. Please see the material on proper English usage on the class web site.
When you submit your exam, the Sakai system will automatically provide a grade of "zero." Please do not panic. This simply means that the exam has been submitted but not yet graded.
Your exam will be automatically submitted to TurnItIn.com. Plagiarized exams will receive a grade of zero and will be reported to APUS officials. Do not plagiarize.
The following sources are not acceptable: Wikipedia, FactMonster.com, infoplease.com, about.com, Boundless.com. sparknotes.com--or any similar type of source. Acceptable sources include the lesson notes, books, academic journal articles, credible newspaper articles, and credible magazine articles.
