: Resume and Letter of Application
Directions: Review chapter seven of the text entitled: How to Get a Job from pp. 254-317. For this assignment, you will search for a job in which you have the requisite skills and experience needed to successfully compete for a position. This job should be something that is connected to your major or minor area of study and/or a position that you find interesting. The job posting must include the name of the hiring manager (so that you have someone to address your cover letter to); and should be currently available from an online job bank, newspaper, etc. Please note that you must attach the job posting when submitting this assignment. You are free to copy and paste the posting into Word; or you can print the posting, scan your document, and attach it with the rest of your submission.
After locating a job posting, you will need to develop a professional letter of application (also known as a cover letter). You must write your letter of application to fit the required skills for the job posting you find. Your letter of application should be no longer than one page and must include the name of the hiring manager for the position you are applying to. Please refer to pp. 298-307 for more information and examples of professional cover letters.
Finally, you will develop a professional rsum listing your skills, experience, and education. Unless you have an extensive work history, your rsum should be a single page document that includes a career objective (see examples on pp. 276-287, specifically p. 277).
