You were supposed to ask the group you chose to participate in the service day. It isn't a writing competition, although they could volunteer as writing tutors somewhere if that is what you think this group would want to do. However, SGA is about leadership. I think a more effective way to reach this group is to focus on their leadership skills and passions for leading. Where in the community could they do that and serve the community at the same time? the attached file is an example of how you should invite them to the event

That means that your language, style and approach should change the way the original sounds and the way it is written for the new audience. 2. Make sure you have chosen an actual audience from the list. Those are the only options. And those audiences are all very different--have different needs, interests and concerns. Make sure you analyze those needs carefully before you craft the message for them. And be creative here--think about things that this audience will relate to in the message and build on that. For instance, if the new audience was loal retirees, I might write something about how spending a day volunteering, after a long winter stuck insude the house, would give them an opportunity to see some of their neighbors and that might stimulate opportunities to socialize later on. Or I might cite research that suggests that volunteering helps people feel connected, young and vital in their communities. I think the readers would definitely read on after an opening like that. 3. I am seeing some attempts at connecting with the new audience, but they are a little weak. Remember that a strong connection to the new audience, in the beginning of the message, will help to motivate the readers to keep reading. Don't put anything in your opening that is too negative or they will put the message away. 4. Don't forget to build intrinsic values and add an extrinsic benefit into the message. For intrinsic values, consider what is good and right about giving up a day of spring break and helping someone else out.
