Someone there might be able to tell you something about the history of how animation jobs were outsourced from the United States to other countries. But an easier topic was when I worked on King of the Hill. We did the layouts for the show here in LA, but they had to be shipped by air mail to Korea for animation. This way the American studio (Film Roman) saved money. This took time, and the Korean studios would ship the finished work back to us with several mistakes in the drawings and animation. Then Film Roman would have to spend extra time and money fixing the work that was outsourced. Now with studios able to use the internet to send art files, artists in LA have to work that much harder to stay the best. These are just my opinions, but this has been my experience working as an artist in the animation business. I have to admit, I work for the Animation Guild, so issues about having a good job in animation are on my mind a lot.
