Case Study Project The main purpose of the case study business plan project is to give you an opportunity to apply and demonstrate your understanding of the topics covered in the course. This group case study is also designed to give you the opportunity to be immersed in typical company information especially in small business management. 1. Each student in the class is expected to choose a business to build a plan around. Under the discussion questions in unit one I have setup an area for the class to communicate with one another and helpfully help you to share different ideas. It is required to submit your name, and the type of business you plan to start by midnight on Saturday January 30, 2016. 2. The business plan that will be prepared should be accompanied with the presentation. The business plan is expected to be in length of 15 16 pages, double spaced with a 12 point font, and standard 1 top and bottom margins with 1.5 side margins. Each business plan must also include a cover letter addressed to me requesting funds (loan) to start this small business venture. Therefore, the format of the plan and cover letter should be very persuasive. 3. The paper is due by midnight on April 23, 2016, please email your response to me. No late paper or presentations submissions will be accepted. 4. Each student will present its business plan to the class in the form of a PowerPoint presentation that will be posted by midnight on April 2, 2016, please email your response to me. 5. Each student must also submit a draft of your business plan. Your draft should be a basic overview of your business plan and include 3 to 4 pages. These drafts are expected to be emailed to me by midnight on Saturday March 26, 2016. 6. Your case study business plan grade is a composition of the presentation and the final paper. If another persons work is used in your paper, you must cite the author and its source. Taking another individuals thoughts, expressions and/or written work without citation is a violation of academic integrity. Using someone elses work is expected and encouraged to highlight the case study only if credits are granted to the authors using APA or MLA format. The following is a list of points that must be included in each presentation and paper. * Identify an executive summary (This should include the what, how, why, where, and when). * Identify what form of ownership the business will have and explain why your group has chosen this form of ownership. * Identify a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) of the company. * Form a mission and vision statement for the company. Keeping in mind the mission statement is what the company stands for and the Vision statement is where the company see themselves in the future. * Identify the companys industry and its main competitors (Such as, the industry rivalry level is strong, modest, or nonexistent). * Identify the companys marketing strategy and plan for promotion and distribution of their product and/or services. Within your explanation include a profile of your target market. * Evaluate the main competitive forces and give an explanation of why your product or service is better than the competition. * Identify a profit planning analysis to estimate the first, second, & fifth year profit projections in the form of an income statement. * Identify how you will maintain a level of quality control of the product or service your business will dispense. * Include how you will plan recruit, compensate and staff this new business. * Create a break-even analysis for the business. * Justify the businesses funding request from me. * Come up with a contingency plan for financing if I deny your request for financing. This contingency plan should be realistic. * Include some potential material suppliers. * Use managerial vocabulary similar to our class discussions and be as detailed as possible.
