Assessment falls into three main categories: • Progress monitoring, which determines if students are learning at an adequate rate throughout the school year and provides the teacher with ongoing information to indicate whether a student will reach grade-level reading benchmarks by the end of the year • Diagnostic, which is used to identify a variety of reading, language, or cognitive skills and is designed to give more specific information so that intervention can be applied strategically and judiciously • Outcome, which evaluates the effectiveness of the instruction for meeting the goals for all students A. Complete the attached “Assessment Summary Chart” to determine how each type of assessment (listed above) contributes to understanding student reading skills and abilities. Note: Some assessment tools can accomplish more than one type of assessment feedback. B. Explain (suggested length of 1–2 paragraphs) why each assessment tool is appropriate for reporting progress, diagnosing reading skills, or providing outcome data. C. Explain whether each assessment tool would be better used with individual students or administered to a group of students. D. If you use sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format. Note: Please save word-processing documents as *.rtf (Rich Text Format) or *.pdf (Portable Document Format) files.

  • This task was just returned to me. It was knocked down for a few reasons. They include: A. Reading Skills and Abilities, Criterion Score: 0.00, Comments on this criterion: All assessments marked as Diagnostic and Progress are correctly noted. However, the assessments marked as Outcome do not meet the specifications of an outcome assessment, and some assessments are appropriate for additional uses. B. Appropriateness, Criterion Score: 1.00, Comments on this criterion: The responses provide a reasonable explanation of each assessment; and generally accurate descriptions are provided of how an assessment reports progress or diagnoses reading skills. However, it is not clear how assessments marked as Outcome are providing outcome data. As revisions are made to the chart, make sure that the explanations align with what is noted on the chart. C. Individual or Group Use, Criterion Score: 1.00, Comments on this criterion: The comments are consistent with what is noted on the chart; however, there is not always an explanation as to why each assessment tool would be better used with individual students or administered to a group of students. D. Sources, Criterion Score: 0.00, Comments on this criterion: References are listed, but in-text citations are not provided to indicate how the sources were used.
