1. How is illness or disease a result of social processes and not simply individual choices or biology? What does it mean that we live in a medicalized society? How does medicalizing natural processes, such as menopause affect society? 2. According to the symbolic interactionist perspective, how does the labeling of diseases affect societys understanding of them, for instance, mental illness is hugely stigmatized today.
