  • I was just informed that my topic might be a little to similar to one of the other students. Their point is that auditors are ultimately not responsible for detecting fraud but are responsible for ensuring the financial statements are free from material misstatements. Another student's point is to argue that Grant Thornton did comply with the GAAS when doing the audit even though the Comptroller said that he did not. Is there another point you can argue that's not similar to either of these. There are 2 more people in the group that I don't know their point yet so if I submit mine 1st and theirs is similar then they will have to change theirs so please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

  • I understand if you won't be able to complete the assignment because you can't come up with another point. That will not hinder me from choosing you to do another project. We just can't have the same point in this group project and that's kind of hard and with the other things I have going on I don't have time to look at it again at the moment.   • I just read over the case again to try and get a better understanding of why the lawyer would need to bring up this point to defend Thornton in this case and I'm still not understanding.   • I emailed my professor to see of we could argue similar points since we will not see each others videos and reports because it really bothered me that you had already started on that topic and had your mind set on it. The response I received has us all confused. You can work on whatever topic you feel most comfortable with doing.
