  • Hello! This is a group project and each student will argue a different point in the closing statements for this case. Our group is to assert plaintiff's position in arguing for Grant Thornton. My point is to argue that the liability rests with the bank officers and managers who participated in the scheme and Thornton had no way of knowing that the records it was provided had been falsified. Another student's point is that auditors are ultimately not responsible for detecting fraud but are responsible for ensuring the financial statements are free from material misstatements. Another student's point is to argue that Grant Thornton did comply with the GAAS when doing the audit even though the Comptroller said that he did not. There are 2 more people in the group that I don't know their points yet. I was informed that my topic might be a little too similar to one of the other students but their are only so many points you can argue in this case. If you can come up with another point, just let me know. If not, you can continue with this one. Paper should be 5-7 pages not including a works cited page and a dynamic cover page. Use MLA format, think of this as an English class paper, put a title, DS, 1 inch margins, page numbers, etc. Make paper look professional. Absolutely no plagiarism please and check for grammatical errors. If you can do this by the due date please let me know.
