Instruction
I need someone to write this concert report. Must google a classical concert in san diego that is recent. Please let me know the concert before writing it so I can double check it. Heres the instructions..
Attend a concert of classical music and write a three to four page essay about your experience, relating to terminology and concepts which have been covered in class. In your report, you must do the following:
Discuss either EVERY piece you heard on the concert or FIVE of the pieces (if the concert consisted of shorter works), and describe the musical characteristics you heard in the same manner as your listening journals.
Relate ONE of the pieces on the concert to a piece that is on your listening list for the course. Compare and contrast the two works. What musical characteristics were similar, and what musical characteristics were different? Be sure to go into as much detail as possible; it is not sufficient to write only a sentence or two. For this portion of the report, it is best to choose a logical comparison in terms of composer, genre, or time period when the works were composed; for example, you might not want to compare an organ piece by Bach to a piece of electronic music by Varese.
Draw on at least ONE outside resource for research regarding the piece you will talk about in detail in part #2. This can be anything from a library book to a website article. However, it cannot be from your textbook, lecture notes, or concert program notes. Cite your resource in a parenthetical citation, endnote, footnote, or bibliography. I much prefer MLA format. Remember that Wikipedia is not permitted as source material for this class.
You may copy and paste your report into the space given; alternatively, if you would like to preserve the formatting of your report, you may add it as an attachment. In this case, use one of the following formats: .rtf, .doc, .docx, or .pdf.
The best place to look for concert listings in the San Diego area is in the San Diego Reader, a free magazine which is published every Thursday. The Reader can also be found online at www.sdreader.com. Navigate to concert listings, then to classical music listings. I will also make periodic announcements about classical music concerts in San Diego; there are often many free events any given weekend, especially at colleges and universities, and also near the downtown area. One of the best options in San Diego is the weekly FREE organ recital series in Balboa Park; these concerts happen every Sunday afternoon at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion at 2 pm. In addition, the Spreckels Organ Pavilion hosts the summer organ festival, including FREE concerts every Monday evening at 8 pm. These events are very accessible and family friendly. See www.sosorgan.com for more information, including upcoming programs. I DO NOT expect you to spend a large amount of money to complete this report.
You MUST copy the concert announcement (if on a website, such as sdreader.com) in some portion of your paper.
If you are unsure as to whether a concert will count as classical music, please ask me immediately before attending the event! Dont waste your money. Often, people make the mistake of attending a pops symphony concert, especially during the summer months. While these concerts are usually VERY entertaining, they generally do not consist of classical repertory. Ask me for more details.
Remember that plagiarism will result in a ZERO grade for this assignment. If you have any questions about how to properly cite outside sources used in research, please ask right away.
