Instruction
I need someone to reinterpret the Romeo & Juliet into West Side Story, When interpreting a story it needs to become a whole other version of itself which holds the same meanings and level of empathy, in this case the romeo and Juliet story needs to appeal to contemporary audiences since West side story is based in the 1970's.
What i need done: first take one plot element fromRomeo and Juliet and then look at where there is a corresponding script action inWest Side Story. Perhaps drawing a two column chart for yourself withWest Side Storyon one side andRomeo and Julieton the other side will help keep things straight as you seek to answer these questions. You would need to do this for no less that 6 places in the storyline where you can show the original action in Romeo and Juliet has a corresponding action in West Side Story.
(Also look at attached document, could be helpful.)
Title: Reinterpretation of Romeo & Juliet into West Side Story
the classic play Romeo and Juliet was reinterpreted into the Broadway play, and then the movie of West Side Story.
These are two versions of the openings scenes, which set the tone and frame the plot. One is a street brawl in the 16th century, and the other is a gang street brawl in 1960's New York City. West Side Story has taken the 16th century street brawling of two prominent families and turns it into a street brawl of two street gangs on the streets of New York:
