DUE BY 6AM NOV 23!!!!! This is a 7-10 page (1,750-2,500 words) typewritten paper will compare Jordan and Iran and their electoral systems. Ultimately answering this questions: What kind of electoral system do they have? Does the geography, culture, religion play into a part? What political parties do they have? Does the citizens of Jordan and Iran have a voice and vote to their government? What stance does the civil society has? What does history show? Biggest question being how democratic are they actually?
a. Start off with an abstract (you should write it after you finish the paper as an abstract is a condensed version of your paper that says: the purpose, research question, cases and methods used and findings
b. Intro to theory/concept. Define and explain the significance of the electoral systems between Jordan and Iran.
c. Intro to case. Explain and justify Jordan by providing a BRIEF background including only information relevant to your application of the concepts and the rationale for your case selection.
e. Provide an example of electoral systems in your case from the local media of that state. Reference an English-language mainstream source from your case. Learning about the media of your case is a critical part of this assignment.
f. Compare and contrast your case to data on Iran.
g. Conclusion: summary with a section on why it would be useful for book publishers to use your case as a side bar in their textbook.
h. Annotated bibliography: the case study must reference, at least, SIX sources. They must include at least TWO Social Science journals and ONE local media source. Each annotation should be no more than 150-200 words summarizing the article/piece and explaining why it helps your case study report. Note: the annotated bibliography is not counted towards your word count.
i. Use parenthetical in-text references such as, (Lecture Military Coups Slide 2), or (ICP 177), or (author last name page#)
EXAMPLE- a student could choose to write about the topic of Ethnicity and Religion and their impact on politics in Belgium. In a, identity in general from ICP would be introduced and supported with a social science journal article regarding identity; in b, a rationale for why Belgium is being used as a critical case to study identity and politics would be provided; in c, an overview of identity divisions between the French and Flemish communities is provided along with a section on new immigrants and government policies on dealing with the divisions; in section d, a summary of a news article from mainstream local press in Belgium (Flanders News), in this case, http://deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.english/Politics/1.2149620 an article which describes the election of a new Green Party leader who is a woman of Turkish background; the first leader of a party to be from outside Europe. In section e, comparison with Germany and its identity politics is provided. And so on .....
