5 pages essay which you interpret one or two of the stories assigned. The essay should be double-spaced and written in 12-point font (Times New Roman)
Additional research is not recommended unless you have a specific purpose in mind. For instance, doing research to find out more about the boods and paintings described in `The Fall of gthe House of Usher` would be acceptable. You interpretation should be based on your own insights about hte assigned readings. Please do not use `study` websites such as eNotes and SparkNotes. If you do use any sources other than the assigned readings, `please cite them in MLA style`.
Important: please find the aspect of the story that most interests you and focus on that. You can make up your own topic but you will want to narrow your focus down and write a working thesis statement before you begin to write the first draft. The thesis statement should make an `interpretive claim about the work(s) that you can then support in the body of your essay.` ` Do not feel obligated to discuss events in the order in which they occur in the text. Instead, draw evidence from anywhere in the story to support your claims. ` Please try to avoid excessive speculation`
