Leslie Stephen. English literature and society in the eighteenth century (1903) London, Duckworth.
Two writers during the nineteenth century turned their attention to writing novels of social criticism, on English and the other French. Select one of these writers and write a paper of two to three pages, describing how each of them was able to illustrate just how the other half lived.
