Your post is due 4/16 but you will have until 4/18 to post your answer or comment.
Write a 2-3 page summary of the article in Word. Save it as a Word file or a PDF.
Post a critique of the article.
Post at least one question you had about the article.
Attach your summary to your post.
Answer or comment on one other critique or question.
Here are the details.
Write a 2-3 page summary of the article. Please read through this article carefully (you may need to do it several times). Then, write a 2-3 page summary of the article, relating the content of the article back to concepts discussed in the textbook and lectures. Do not use any direct quotes from any source (merely cite everything). For example, instead of writing "The authors were interested in..." or "This article..." write "Doe, et al. (2010) were interested in..." Your paper should be in APA format in terms of citations and any outside references you include, but does not need a title page or abstract. It should be double spaced with one inch margins all around. You should cite the article authors often. You can also use citations for boundaries. For example, if you are writing a paragraph summarizing the methodology, cite the authors in the first and last sentence; your reader will then understand that everything in between also comes from the source. One thing you should not do is cite any work you do not read yourself (such as citing authors that the authors of the current article cite). In this case, it is OK to just paraphrase the points being made.
Post a brief critique of the article. What did you think of the research question or premise of the article? Are their conclusions or results and their approach to the problem convincing? Can you think of any real world examples that support or contradict their view, perhaps from your own experience? How has the course material helped you in understanding the content of this article as well as your own understanding of the world? Explain your answers.
Post one question you had about the article. Your questions can be about things you didn't quite understand, or things you thought of while reading it that the authors didn't address.
ATTACH your summary to your discussion forum post. DO NOT POST IT IN THE BODY OF YOUR POST.
Answer or comment on one other critique or question. Once you have posted, read the summary posted by one fellow student and comment on their question. In commenting, answer a question, or offer your opinion as long as it is informed by, at a minimum, the material we've covered in the course (though feel free to go looking for additional information as well. Their reference section is a good place to look for additional information.). Do not duplicate answers from other posters, but add something new to any thread in which you post.
