NARRATIVE PROJECT PAPER GUIDELINES
Narrative Project Paper Students will share experiences with a locally displaced person and/or family at the International Center of Kentucky. Students will engage them in home and community settings. These experiences may include cooking, shopping, attending events, etc.
Students will write a 5-7 page final paper in the MLA format of their personal experiences with a displaced person(s).
Keep a Folder/Journal of 8 one-hour sessions or 4 two-hour sessions.
What should be included in the narrative project paper?
1. The name of the displaced person(s)
2. A photo of you and the DP if they agree, you may create a photo book
3. The ethnicity of the DP
4. Where is the DP from?
5. What happened that resulted in the DP coming to the U.S.?
6. Who is with the DP? Parents? Grandparents? Siblings? Children?
7. Types of activities engaged in?
8. Day and time (beginning and ending time) of each session?
9. Cultural experiences shared?
10. Did your expectations differ from the actual engagement?
11. What did you teach/share with your DP? Music? How to play an instrument? Cooking?
12. Where did you meet with your DP?
