1) Write a poem. Even write two or three and choose your favorite one to polish. Try to use some of the devices youve learned in poetry, such as form, meter, sounds, metaphors and various sharp imagery. God is in the details, not in generalizations. You will also read your poem to the class. Everyone will read, so don't worry about being embarrassed. Part of poetry is the sound of it, so if you think you'll be nervous, practice reading the poem aloud. After all, I'm hoping that you'll have a good job in the future where you'll make presentations or be in charge of people, so it's worth getting used to being in front of people now.

2) After you polish your poem, write an explanation--a few paragraphs or more on what youre trying to do in the poem. Turn your poem and explanation to Turnitin. Bring your poem to read in class. You'll read you poem in class on April 23rd. You'll upload it and your explanation to Turnitin.
