Due 07/05/17 Non-Discrimination Practices Introduction: Human resource professionals must stay acutely aware of the laws that have been proposed and enacted, in Washington, D.C. and in state legislatures. There are many states that have enacted more civil rights legislation beyond Federal laws. However, the protected classes have grown to that the vast MINORITY of workers are unprotected by anti-discrimination laws. Nearly every state has its own anti-discrimination laws in addition to those enforced at the Federal level. Once a law starts to protect the majority instead of the minority it could become time to question whether the law is needed at all, and how that law evolved to where it is today. Write a paper analyzing any anti-discrimination law which is now a state law. Select an anti-discrimination law that applies to the private sector, not the public sector government. Analyze the way that this legislation impacts the way that business is done and the way the business must deal with employees and employee issues. Evaluate whether these laws are still necessary and why you do or do not think they are still necessary. Include in your analysis current publications that support or add to your analysis and evaluation. Find three current references from research articles or publications. You can select your state or a state of your choosing.
