Example: The time value of money is the concept that money available at the present time is worth more than the same amount in the future. An example in which the time value of money would be an important factor is investing in stock. If you have $2,000, you could invest in stock to increase this amount. On the other hand, if you have $2,000 and do nothing with the money, in 10 years, you still have just the $2,000.
