Instruction
The writing assignment will consist of papers submitted in at different points during the semester. These writing assignments will be related to topics in Psychology. Because of the large number of students enrolled in PSY2012, all papers must be submitted electronically. No hard copies of the papers will be collected or graded. All submitted papers will be analyzed by www.turnitin.com for possible plagiarism.
These assignments must be typed, double-spaced, and include a header that has your name, the due date of the assignment, the chapter number, and the Assignment title.
The assignments must be turned in on the due date listed in the syllabus for that unit. No late assignments will be accepted.
Writing Assignment -
THE SENSES CHALLENGE
This assignment corresponds to Sensation & Perception Chapter of your textbook. The purpose is to give you the opportunity to take the Senses Challenge and learn how easily our perceptions can be influenced by illusion and experience.
PROCEDURE:

Take the senses challenge.
After each question on the challenge, you will be provided with the correct answer. Read the explanation before moving onto the next question. You may want to keep paper and pencil to record notes re: your reaction to each question.
When you have finished taking the challenge, write a paper discussing what surprised you or what you learned. Try to discuss at least one thing about each of the five senses. (If you already know everything there is to know about the senses and are past being surprised, discuss why you think most people are fooled by the optical or auditory illusions.)
Refer to other resources as necessary to assist you in your writing and referencing to appropriate key concepts. Include information from your text.
Approach the essay as mini research papers. That is, address each question as if you are writing a research paper. This means you will need to do some researching to make your comments. Your major resource for this course will be your text book. That is, before you write and submit any essays, read the text! Also, always list your text as a reference. Include at least 2 additional sources as a reference
ASSIGNMENT FORMAT:
A paper about 3 pages long, not including any reference section
Typed and double spaced, with Times New Roman (12 point font) and 1 inch margins
The header has your name, the due date of the assignment, the chapter number, and the Assignment title.
Proofread for spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors and indent the first line of each new paragraph.
Provide in-text citations and reference any of your sources using APA format
All writing assignments are due 5 minutes PRIOR to your class scheduled commencement time on the date it is scheduled for submission on the course schedule. Submissions are time and date stamped by the University computer system, thus student should make note of this while preparing for submission. Specifically, if your class is scheduled bycollege to begin at 12noon, writing assignments are due at 11:55am.No late submissions will be accepted. The instructor reserves the right to modify the submission date/time should technology require it
