  • Will you be able to gain information about Augustine's book?
    User_3049 | May 16, 2013, 07:29 AM
  • yeah, I have access to academic, public and an online library which serves me with reference materials of wide variety. I have strong faith that I shall access it. Meanwhile if you have an electronic format of the book such as a pdf, you can still ease my search by uploading for me and be assured of a high quality paper. However, let you not worry about it. I am an expert in research.
    GeniusWriter | May 16, 2013, 07:36 AM
  • Sorry but I don't have an electronic format of this book. But If you need, I do have some notes from my professor that might be helpful.
    User_3049 | May 16, 2013, 08:09 AM
  • well that's ok. Once have been awarded a homework the mandate is usually mine to look up the reference material so let that no stress you. if the notes wont cost you a lot in terms of time you can consider availing them so that I can make quick reference where necessary. This shall give me a crucial opportunity to incorporate in your homework the content which is much needed and relevant to your professor. this shall increase the chances of scooping high mark.
    GeniusWriter | May 16, 2013, 08:16 AM
  • The few notes i do have are: Civitas Dei - The true city. --> The city of God where there is true peace and justice Civitas terrena - The earthy city --> City of man and there is oppression, injustice and poverty. Augustine beleived you are what you love --> If you love god then you go to the city of god (Civitas Dei) because you have unselfish love --> If you love man, or anything other than god then you go to the city of earth. Ex: love for country, man, women, power, money, wisdom, domination, politics, state --> Selfish love It is our nature to pick evil. We like to be dominant as human beings. --> That is why government is always created Inner man = cavitas --> Spirit. --> Only god recognizes him and the state does not control him. He does not care about power/wealth --> Spiritual love Outer man = Cupitas --> Flesh --> Recognized by society. he only cares about power, property, wealth & the state controls him & he fears the state. He belongs in the city of man. Augustine believes we need the help of God and gods grace to be virtuous. We cant do it by ourselves like Plato believes. --> we with our own efforts cannot achieve anything. The purpose of the state is to use force/violence/coercion to keep us from destroying each other due to our violent nature & the state does not help us. (State is based on violence) The origins of all government is robbery & looting. Pirate story: The difference between robbers & the government is power. Both steal but the government has more power. & even among thieves there must be justice & order. Augustine doesn't believe that's true justice. --> True justice is gods justice which is not of this world. So in this earth, law & order is justice & it provides security in our lives and property I don't have the rest of the notes.
