2 essays one beige each

Each student is also required to write two one-page essays. In each essay, you are required to pose a question regarding oddities or somewhat unique situations that you have observed and explain that oddity or situation using microeconomics. For example: (1) If the demand for a book is very high when it is just released, why do bookstores offer large discounts on the books at that time? (2) Why are soda cans round and milk cartons rectangular? (3) Why do the manufacturers of ATM machines include braille on the keys of drive-up ATM machines? Other examples can be found in any of the Freakonomics books, www.freakonomics.com, or The Economic Naturalist (both cited below). You may not use examples from these books or any other similar books. The questions posed must be derived from your own observations and your original answer provided using microeconomic theory. The question should be posed at the top of the essay with the answer to follow. The essay should be single spaced with one-inch margins on all sides. Times New Roman 12 point font must be used. Your grade for each essay will consist of the following: Uniqueness of problem statement = 10% Quality of the analysis = 40% Formatting = 10% Writing technique and structure = 40% Helpful Readings for Essays: “Happy-Hour Economics, or How an Increase in Demand Can Produce a Decrease in Price” by Mark Fisher The Economic Naturalist: In Search of Explanations for Everyday Enigmas” by Robert H.
