It should be 1-2 single-spaced pages. The central question for the Methods Statement is: How will you analyze your data/material in order to figure out what what you want to know? Most of you have developed a clear sense of what you want to look at but, in order to analyze it, you will need to figure out how to break it down. What will you look at/for in the material you have decided to analyze? How will you find patterns or contrasts? What information will you need to investigate in order to answer the questions that you have? In effect, you have to describe your process of analyzing information. A lot of these issues are in your proposals and literature reviews, but the Methods Statement describes what your research design should show: How will this study help us to understand the issue more effectively? Also, you should list the limitations of your research project-What challenges do you have doing this project? What is beyond the scope of your research? etc.
