Before 1970, many countries were on the gold standard. Since that time, floating exchange regimes have dominated the global economy. Select a country which now has a floating or a pegged exchange rate. Prior to its present regime, did this particular country have another regime, or the gold standard? What was the impetus for the change in regime for this country?

  • my doctor add a comment : (( Great point about the US depression in the 1920's -- so when monetary and financial policies change is the goal by policy makers that of stablizing the economy or that of providing more growth through more risky polciies to promote financial gain? What is the danger of either of these policies? ))) please response today here in text to copy it and send it to her .

  • When the monetary and financial policies change the goal of policy makers should be that of ensuring that the economy is stable rather than instilling more risky policies in the country to help in promoting financial gains. Choosing more risky policies does not offer a guarantee that there will be an increase in financial gains. Therefore, the best move would be to seek policies that will stabilize the economy and when the economy is stabilized the policy makers can seek safe policies that will increase financial gain.
